Friday Photo: Moonflower

curledDatura
We’ve had Moonflower (Datura Stratmonium) in one corner of our yard for years. They aren’t exactly a perennial in our climate but they produce a delightfully absurd seed pod — a spiky pine cone — that generously re-seeds. Every year I try to dry the pods for indoor ornamentation but they seem too fleshy to dessicate easily and usually end up rotting. I’m sure I’ll post of photo when these weird fruits appear but But the “star” of this photo is an unopened flower.
